CASA — Court Appointed Special Advocates — provides volunteer advocates for children in the foster care system. The work is urgent. The stories are human. The challenge for any production team is capturing both without sensationalizing either.
This campaign was built around one central truth: CASA volunteers change individual lives, one child at a time. The content needed to make donors and potential volunteers feel that truth — not just understand it intellectually.
The approach
We shot across two full production days using a documentary approach. No scripts, no directed testimonials. We embedded with CASA's team and spent time with volunteers and staff, letting the real conversations guide what we captured.
The visual style is warm and intimate — handheld where it serves the moment, locked-off when subjects need space to speak. The edit respects silence. Not every moment needs a music swell.
The deliverables
The campaign produced a three-minute awareness film for CASA's annual fundraising gala, three 60-second testimonial spots for social and email campaigns, and a series of event recap pieces for post-event donor communication.
The gala film screened to an audience of 400. Donations during the event exceeded the prior year by a significant margin. The social testimonials ran across Instagram and Facebook for the following quarter, driving volunteer inquiries to a three-year high.
